Parents and teachers often advice students appearing for crucial exams to prepare well in advance but students seldom listen and invariably push studies to the last days until the moment arrives when they realize they are ill-prepared to face exams. No wonder, this results in anxiety and fear.

By doing so, not only students but their parents too undergo stress and spend sleepless nights. Anxiety leads to lack of appetite and poor eating habits, which ultimately leads to ill-health. If ill-health is coupled with lack of confidence and sleep, it could result in total blackout on the D-day.

One way of preventing such a situation is preparing a timetable for each subject and preparing accordingly. Taking adequate rest at regular intervals is important as it helps the mind to rejuvenate. Making notes helps as one can simply go through them before exams for revision. Take adequate amount of food and water and sleep well. Appearing for mock tests also helps revise.

Students must not rot learn and try to understand the concepts. Time and again, parents must remind their wards that exams are not a punishment but just a way of judging how well he/ she has grasped concepts.

Playing or watching tv for some time is fine.  Sometimes, it is good to share anxieties with family or friends as they could help put things in perspective.
